Nissan Navara NP300 Accessories

Nissan Navara NP300 Accessories

At Billcar, in addition to providing customers with MOTs, we supply a range of spare parts and accessories. This may be for a particular repair, or it may simply be to give your car that extra something special. Today, we’re going to focus on the Nissan Navara NP300, so you can find out more about the different accessories that you could get your hands on.

The Nissan Navara

Nissan is a brand of car, recognised the world over. Founded in Japan in 1933, it is famed for its constant innovation, as well as being the biggest producer of electric vehicles.  The NP300 (also known by D23) was manufactured in 1997 as a pick-up truck. It is a third-generation model of the Navara series, which is similar to the D40 model.

Accessories for The Nissan Navara

The Nissan Navara has many different accessories which can add to your experience of this vehicle that is already packed with various features. Some of the following accessories could offer you that something extra: airbag-safe waterproof seat covers, cattle rails, LED lighting for a tow bar, and more. You may consider a bonnet guard, which uses UV-stabilised acrylic to protection paint and bodywork from stone chips. For aesthetic reasons, rather than practical, there’s also the option to get a custom-made headlamp trim, which can be easily installed without any drilling needed. Another example of an optional accessory is a set of fender flares. These can protect your paint from damage, and give your Nissan Navara a particularly rugged look.

Accessories at Billcar

At Billcar, we currently stock a lower radiator hose (2016) and a set of genuine front brake pads (2017) for the Nissan Navara. Radiator hoses are recommended to be replaced every four years, but this also depends on the usage. Your MOT should reveal whether this is something you need to consider. When it comes to brake pads, it is necessary to replace them once the pad friction material has worn down to a thickness of 3 millimetres. It is also required to check the brake disc thickness is at least at the safe minimum set out in the manufacturer’s specification, or otherwise, replace them.

Common Issues with Navaras and How to Fix Them

The name Navara refers to both the D22 and D40 vehicle from Nissan, which is designed as a pickup truck and has been in operation since 1997. It is one of the UK’s best-selling 4×4 pickup trucks. Today at Billcar Ltd, we’re going to tell you about some of the common issues that can occur with this vehicle and advise you how best to deal with any problems.

Transmission Coolers

One of the major common faults you may find yourself battling with the automatic transmissions and transmission coolers. They perform a vital function within the radiator for the engine coolant. The problem that has often been reported with the Nissan Navara is that the radiators can rupture internally, meaning the engine coolant may enter into the automatic transmission. This can then spiral out of control because the electronic controls are placed inside the transmission itself, and if it’s not properly fixed this can result in loss of the reverse gear. In this case, it will be necessary to remove and strip the transmission down to fix the issue.

The Clutch Unit

Another mechanical problem customers also find is that the clutch unit feels a bit too small for a vehicle this size, making it a bit more difficult to pull. Fortunately, any issues that occur with the clutch related to this can be solved by a routine replacement of the unit with spare parts from Billcar.

Other Common Complaints

As with all vehicles, anything can happen and you need to be prepared for that when investing in car ownership. Some other common problems you may face with your Navara include issues with the timing chain and crankshaft, where rotation is synchronised to enable the engine’s valve to open and close at the correct times during each cylinder’ intake and exhaust strokes. If you hear any knocking noises, don’t just ignore it. There could be bolts that have come undone, and if left longer any simple issues could get even worse. Whether there’s a problem with EGR blockages, a failing Cruise control, or an SRS air bag fault, make sure to address any mechanical problems as soon as you have concerns.

Solution?

If you find yourself stuck in a rut with your pickup truck, the simplest solution is to let the experts assess the situation. At Billcar, we provide MOTs and repairs and can source any spare parts you may need to get your vehicle back in tip-top working condition. Whether you need an engine replacement or upgrade, we will be able to offer you a reliable and personable service as an independent Nissan specialist based in the Midlands.
